T.V Journalism.
TV and filmed journalism has been a massive part of my University, and also my own individual journey. Before University, I did 3 days work experience at ITV Granada. I helped edit, and record TV packages at Old tarfford cricket ground. I then was allowed the chance to read the auto cue, and practice being on Camera. From that point on i was obsessed, and couldnt wait till I went to University and use these experiences for my own Journey. Below you can see a few of the pieces of work since that fateful trip to Old Trafford...
University Work.
A package about the "It takes a village scheme. An eye opening initiative, and allowed me to talk to those organising and those directly impacted.
The Universities Rugby Union team were partaking in a 24-hour 'cycleathon' to raise money for Movember. I spoke to the cyclists, both late into their cycle and at the point of completion about why they were doing it and why awareness around Movember is so important.
A commentary piece about the University footballs Varsity match. A really fun experience, and my first experience commentating for Salford Sport! Doing it with friends made the experience even more amazing!
A piece about a palestine protest in Manchester. It was one of the first pieces of journalism I did for University. It was exciting to be 'out in the field', and the spontaneity of random interviews was fun!
A more recent package I made. It covered the 16 days of Activism against gender based violence. I spoke to the chairty Salford Survivor a charity for those affected by domestic abuse. The CEO Jane Gregory was very insightful, and it was a really enlightening experience.
Me and a good friend Lewis Speed, went down to the Oxford Union and recorded a package about Jordan Petersons (who was debating that night). We spoke to students, and also the former head of the Oxford Union about whether or not it was right that speakers such as Peterson were giving platforms to speak.
